Lead Well. Work Simply. Scale Smart. |
Sometimes the thing that makes us lose our sanity in business isn’t the workload. It’s the comparison.
For high performers, resentment doesn’t usually show up in dramatic ways. We don’t actually want to quit the business or burn it all down. (Okay, maybe there are days where I’ve thought, “Forget it, I’ll scrap everything and start over.”)
But most of the time, resentment is quieter. It’s that subtle frustration where you start to resent the business… and maybe even your own ambition.
And the problem is: you don’t even realize you need to take a step back. Because nothing’s “wrong.” You’re still successful-ish, still moving forward.
For me, it usually takes whiteboarding it out to see: I don’t need a total reset. I just need a few tweaks.
But comparison makes it hard to see that. Because what are we comparing ourselves to? It’s vanity metrics.
- Someone looks amazing because they just got funding — but you don’t see the scary P&L that’s deep in the red.
- Someone looks like they’re crushing it with 10K LinkedIn followers — but behind the scenes they’re struggling to land clients.
- Someone is expanding into new markets — but only because they’re drowning in debt and desperate for cashflow.
Resentment builds when we forget that what we see online is the highlight reel, not the full picture.

Extras from the Auxo Arsenal
Comparison, burnout, conflict—none of them disappear on their own. They creep in quietly until you pause long enough to notice the cracks. My challenge to you this week: catch the small signs early, make the small shifts, and don’t forget you’ve got an arsenal of tools (and people) to back you up. Business should be simple, human, and even a little fun—so let’s keep it that way.
